LINGER
Linger on, fine lady
leave your warm remembrance in my care:
Linger in the faintest trailing trace of touch
from satin cheek to silken chin;
Linger in the melting underside of lips
the svelte and subtle slope of hips
and in the soft mysterious curves
in which my seeking secrets mind
unrestrained and unconfined
allowed itself to linger in.
Linger on, my love
for in my mind's long lens
your lashes lower still, and still
your fingers twine [so tenderly] and leave
the simplest sign of long-remembered touch
to linger on.
And how I wished, my lady,
within these drifts of reverie,
that you had lingered then
as you so long linger now.
