3d studio max 9 / render with transparent bg

How do I render with no bg, only the render? When I render I get a black background. Actually I want no background, how do I disable this?

I already figuered out with the alpha channel thanx anywayz,

how come if i edit my artwork it doesnt update in full sized view? it only worked in the thumbnail
